My Thoughts on Tropical Traditions aka Healthy Traditions

I had never really heard of Tropical Traditions, but apparently they are pretty famous for their coconut oil. What drew me to them was the fact that they are an approved dealer for Florihana essential oils (you can email Florihana to confirm) and offer free shipping with orders of $39 or more. They also offer free shipping once a month (so stalk their FB page), with $20 being the minimum order. And. . . they'll offer you free ground shipping on your first order with the discount code of FS10.

Started in the Philippines by American Brian Shihavy in 2000, they were the first to import virgin coconut oil to the US. Currently living in the US, they have a variety of healthy personal products, cleaning products, and grocery items for sale on their website. Brian has a BA in Bible/Greek from Moody Bible Institute and a MA in Linguistics from Northeastern Illinois. He also runs Health Impact News, an alternative health website.

Customer Service
I haven't had any interaction with their customer service, but they are pretty active on Facebook.

Affordable Prices
Their prices are really pretty good and offer items in bulk too. They also have the option of joining the Healthy Buyers Club and getting items such as grass-fed meats, soy-free eggs, wild-caught Alaska fish, and more. They have memberships that are 30 days, 6 months, and 1 year. You do not need to be a member in order to purchase from Tropical Traditions. There are loads of items you can buy without a membership.

Some of the items that you can buy include coconut oil, coconut products, baking supplies, chocolate, grains, fermented foods, spices, tomatoes, Florihana essential oils, supplements, meat, fish, eggs, honey, pet supplies, Himalayan salt, cleaners, kitchen appliances, and more.

Ethics
I have not found any info about donating to NGOs or giving back to the community. However, they do pride themselves on selling real, traditional food. It's non GMO, organic, grass-fed meat, Cocofeed poultry, cold-pressed oils, and the like.

In 2008, they were asked by Ohio State University to provide Cocofeed to a study since their soy-free chicken feed was the only one available. It showed that the soy protein disappeared within 10 days of being fed Cocofeed.

My Reviews
Below are the Tropical Traditions products I have reviews. The Florihana essential oils are listed here as well as on my Florihana page since I bought them direct from Tropical Traditions. I have reviewed other companies and their products as well and you can find those on my complete list.

They often have sales throughout the year so be sure to check out their Facebook page. I write about all the sales and deals that I know of. Here is the label for all the past sales and deals. You can also find a list at the bottom of this post.
