Edens Garden Meditation Synergy Blend Essential Oil Review

I have the old version of Meditation. It was recently re-formulated in order to have more effective therapeutic benefits and aromas. The old version only had 6 ingredients and the new one has 13.

I was given this oil (along with a handful of other Edens Garden essential oils) by someone who was moving. I was a bit biased against this oil at first purely based on the label, which is a kind of orange-y, brown color. It reminds me of dirt and the earth. I think that's a fitting color for the name of the blend, however, it simply didn't catch my eye and I didn't use it for a while. I finally got around to going through all my oils in order to sell or trade the ones I didn't like. Here's a list of good Facebook groups for buying, selling, and trading. I turned each bottle over to look at the ingredients before smelling the cap and found out that based on the ingredients, this oil would probably smell ok to me. I knew it wouldn't be one of my favorites, but I also knew I wasn't going to hate it.

You can buy it here. Like Plant Therapy (use this link to get $10 off), Edens Garden also has a kids line called, OK for Kids. This product is not part of this line.

Their Calm 'em Down (they also have a roller ball version) might be semi-similar if you're looking for a kid safe version.

 Old Version
As I mentioned above, I have the old version of this blend. There are six ingredients and the label is in alphabetical order: clary sage, frankincense (not sure whether it's boswellia carterii, boswellia freana, or boswellia serrata), patchouli, sweet orange, thyme, and ylang ylang.
  1. Clary sage is supposed to be earth, fruity, floral, nutty and herbaceous, which is a lot of things. I'm not so sure about that. I don't really like earthy or herbaceous. It's known for helping with menstrual issues. It helps create calm.
  2. I love Frankincense (not sure whether it's boswellia carterii, boswellia freana, or boswellia serrata). It is a precious oil and I've gotten a handful of samples from AVAT, which I cherish and am almost afraid to use; I just like smelling them. I really should learn how to use them more. I have added some drops to rosehip oil and argan oil and used that as a facial moisturizer. Frankincense is known for helping with aging. It also supports your immune system and can be used in times of sadness.
  3. I hate patchouli, from talking to other people, it's one of those oils that you either love or hate and I'm the latter. It can be grounding and help with stress or diffused while meditating. Topically, it's known to help with skin problems, like wrinkles and scars.
  4. I haven't tried thyme, but I know what the spice smells like. I'm not sure I would like it as an essential oil since it would remind me of cooking. It can help with respiration issues and to boost your immune system during cold and flu season. It's also said to help after your body has been bombarded by a hospital stay or antibiotics. Topically, it is often used in toners.
  5. I can't really smell the sweet orange and that's a shame because it makes me feel happy and energized. It's known to be uplifting.
  6. I tolerant ylang ylang, I feel like some days I like it more than others and I tend to like it in a blend more than on its own. It's said to calm you down. It's also known as an aphrodisiac.
They say that it's supposed to smell citrusy with warm notes. Of the six ingredients, there are two that I love, two that I'm not sure about, one that I hate, and one that I tolerate. Luckily, I can really smell the sweet orange and that's one of my favorite oils. Citrus is my favorite scent. It brings me joy and energy. I can also smell a bit of an earthy scent, but not too much, which is good since I don't really like earthy aromas. I can detect a little of the ylang ylang as well. It smells like oranges and rain to me.
They say that Meditation is supposed to quiet your mind and invite a sense of peace. It can also promote mental vigor as a natural antidepressant. It can help boost memory while promote joy and security.

It's a thin oil so be careful about using more than you intend to.

Size, Price, and Packaging
I got a 10ml bottle and it is priced pretty fairly. The packaging is standard. It comes with an orifice reducer or Euro dropper. The oil is thin so it can come out quickly, but the orifice isn't too large that the oil just runs out. If you sign up on their website, you will automatically be enrolled in Aroma Notes, which is their loyalty program and can earn points towards future purchases.

One complaint I have about their packaging is that they don't have a label on the top of the oil. This means that you either have to buy their bottle cap stickers or make your own. They even say that it's frustrating to have to lift all the oils out and check the label on the side. I'm sorry, but I think this is slightly ridiculous. I know that $5 for stickers isn't that much, but if you only have a few oils it doesn't make sense, money-wise or material-wise. You'll just be throwing a lot of the stickers away, even though it's not that much, it's wasteful and think about how many other people do the same. I don't think it would cost them that much extra to stick a sticker on top. Plant Therapy's bottles all come with stickers and they have similar price points. I personally make my own stickers. They don't look pretty, but they do the job. Come on Edens Garden, help us out and just add a sticker on the top.

Would I Get This Again?
Maybe. I'd like to see if someone would decant a sample for me. There are 13 ingredients and only a few that I love. There are a handful of oils that I haven't tried and I will have to get around to trying them. Three of the four of them are expensive (at least in my opinion) so I would definitely like to try a sample first or have someone decant some for me. AVAT and Edens Botanicals are good for samples.

Edens Garden does have a kids line called, OK for Kids, and their Calm 'em Down (they also have a roller ball version) might be semi-similar if you're looking for a kid safe version. Edens Garden offers FREE shipping on all orders. Be sure to sign up on their site since they have a rewards program called Aroma Notes. You can buy it here.
