Green Goo Dry Skin Review

I was looking for something for my daughter's dry skin. We had tried a handful of things and nothing really worked. It wasn't that bad, it just felt scaly.

100% All Natural Dry Skin
I found out about Green Goo because my local store had starting stocking some of their items. They had the dry skin and baby balm available. I was trying to figure out which one to buy when my daughter dropped the dry skin one and broke the top. Problem solved: I'd buy that one. They have it available in a stick (like lip balm), tins, and glass jars. You can buy it here.

Ingredients
All the ingredients used in this balm are organic. It's made up of olive oil, sunflower oil, jojoba oil, calendula flowers, chamomile flowers, red clover flowers, elder flowers, yarrow flowers, violet flowers, beeswax, vitamin E oil, and lavender essential oil. The one concern I have is the red clover flowers which have been said to have phytoestrogen components. There is no petrolatum, parabens, mineral oil, or any artificial ingredients. It's gluten-free. Since there is no water (or water-based product), no preservatives are used.

Smell and Texture
I hate, hate, hate lavender. It reminds me of old ladies. However, happily, this doesn't really smell much like lavender. I can still detect it, but it's not that strong, at least not for me. It smells a bit medicinal to me. It's a deep yellow color. It's a balm, so it is thick. It doesn't melt upon contact with your skin; you have to rub it in.

Size, Price, and Packaging
They only had a 1.82 oz jar, so I got that. I know that online you can buy a 4 oz jar. It is expensive, I'm not going to lie. However, I expected the jar to last a while. I wasn't planning on using it as an all-over moisturiser like they said it could be used. I was going to use it on dry patches and that was it. I'd used homemade body butters for regular skin.

The packaging is ok. I feel like tins and jars are more apt to get contaminated. I like the fact that they use a glass jar and despite having being dropped a few tips, it hasn't broken. The lid, however, broke the first time I dropped it.

Would I Get This Again?
In all honesty, I would not get this again. I feel like it's expensive and had it been amazing and a miracle cure, I would have considered buying it again. As it is, my daughter still has dry skin. It could be because she's a baby and even though I put stuff on her, she's rolling all over the floor the next minute and it's coming off. I do like the fact that this is (probably) mostly edible, except for the essential oil. Because let's face it. You just never know if your kids are going to lick stuff off their arms.

I don't like the fact that it's in a jar either. I know that salves commonly are, but I feel like jars are literally open to contamination. I'm also on the fence about beeswax in products. I know they create a moisture barrier, but I'm not sure if that does more harm than good. I'm still looking for something to help her dry skin. It's almost spring though, so once winter ends, I'm sure that will help. I'll probably end up trying straight mango or shea butter next. However, everyone is different. If you'd like to try it, you can buy it here.
