Just Hemp Foods Hemp Seed Oil Review

I heard that hemp seed oil was supposed to be a miracle oil that could help with skin troubles and irritations such as acne and eczema. I had started breaking out with cystic acne due to a high stress situation and my daughter had eczema that kept getting worse and worse.

There was no hemp seed oil at my local stores, so I went online and found this one. Being a cold pressed oil in a dark bottle bottle that was affordably priced made me buy it without hesitation.

Stats about Hemp Oil
Hemp seed oil has a notorious short shelf life. I've seen people say it can last up to 2 years if kept cold and unopened. Once you open it, make sure to keep it sealed and refrigerated since 6 months seems to be the norm for the shelf life. I keep my oils in the fridge so that the temperature is constant and to make the shelf life last as long as possible. If you leave it out, it will start to get bad and start to smell rancid rather quickly depending on how much light and heat it is exposed to. You can use this for hair, skin, or body care. Many people like using this as an oil for the OCM (oil cleansing method). You can also eat this oil, just be careful not to get it too hot. You should not heat this oil above 150C or 300F.

It has a comedogenic rating of 0 out of 5, meaning that people are not going to break out. Some people believe that comedogenic ratings don't mean much at all: Colin's Beauty Pages and Babe + Beauty.  It's got linoleic acid of 54-57%, linolenic acid of 2-20%, and oleic acid of 10-13%. It's good for people with acne since it can fight infections.

Smell and Texture
Since this unrefined, it does smell slightly nutty. It is not a strong scent at all. Keep in mind that with unrefined products, each batch color, consistency, and smell can vary. It is a thin, green-ish oil as you can see in the photo below.

Size, Price, and Packaging
I got a 500 ml container and it was pretty affordable. Prices may vary depending on sales. I like the packaging since it's a dark, glass container. It is tall and thin, so you have to be careful not to knock it over. I wish it were a bit more squat.

Would I Get This Again?
Maybe, the website does put me off. You can read more about those issues on my page about Just Hemp Foods. However, there are many things I like about this product. Once this bottle runs out, I will see what options are available then. You can buy it here from Amazon.
