Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Provence Lavender Baby Nighttime Soothing Shampoo & Bath Milk Review

My husband definitely thinks I'm weird, but my ways are rubbing off on him. He's so sweet and thoughtful. He came home one day ans said, "Look what I got! Baby lotion, just like the other stuff you use!" He knew that the baby's skin was drying out and that I'm super picky about what products I use.

About Shea Moisture: On my page about Shea Moisture, you can read more about their company and read my product reviews. I have reviewed other companies and their products as well and you can find those on my complete list.

I got this for free: I love free stuff! My husband ended up picking this up at the store.

Men and women think so differently about products. He opened up the cabinet and said, look at all this stuff you have for the baby! I had to explain to him that all that was my hair stuff and I promised I'd work my way through it.

I looked at it and was like, no, that's nothing like what I have. I had the Raw Shea wash  and Olive and Marula lotion from Shea Moisture for the baby. This is the Manuka Honey and Provence Lavender. They're entirely different and I had no idea what he was talking about.

However, what he meant was that it's the same company and he was so proud of himself for buying something that I'd actually use. The bad news is that it wasn't lotion like he (and I) thought it was, it was body wash. Oh well, I suppose that's a good thing since he uses a lot when he gives the baby a bath and there's always a chance the kids will just squirt it all in the bath to make bubbles.

Ingredients
This has some pretty good stuff like shea butter, honey, essential oils, and extracts. Some people say you should wait until 6 months to use essential oils with babies. Make sure you follow safe essential oil usage; not all people or pets should be exposed to essential oils.

I have an issue with the label and the first is the mystery behind the essential oil blend. I really wish companies would get in the habit of listing exactly which essential oils, absolutes, oleoresins, or extracts they used. People have allergies or don't like certain scents. I know that scent is proprietary, however, they really need to think of people's needs.

Smell and Texture
This has a really strong scent for being a baby wash. I can smell it as soon as I get it out of the bottle. I think they need to tone down the scent. I really hate lavender essential oil with a passion, but I like most lavender body products. I'm not exactly sure why. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that there are usually other scents mixed in. I do like the smell of this. It smells very floral.

It's thick like a body wash should be.

Size, Price, and Packaging
I got the 13oz bottle. It was priced pretty fairly. It's in a bottle with a press-top. I wish it had a pump since right now you need two hands to get the soap out. Let's face it, with a squirming baby in the bath, you often need extra hands.

Would I Get This Again?
Maybe. I'm on the fence about how Shea Moisture claims that no ingredients have changed. Perhaps the ingredients are the same but the sources are different. I'm not sure. If you're interested, you can buy it here. There's also the lotion and the wash and lotion set
