Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl and Style Milk Review

My hair is about to the middle of my back. I have 2B, low-porosity, protein-sensitive hair. My hair is medium thickness and low density. I'm of European descent and I have dark virgin hair.

About Shea Moisture: On my page about Shea Moisture, you can read more about their company and read my product reviews. I have reviewed other companies and their products as well and you can find those on my complete list.

I had heard rave reviews about Shea Moisture's Curl and Style Milk, however, I should have compared my hair to the the people who were raving about it. I have low density and low porosity hair. My hair just can't handle heavier products; it gets weighed down. This style milk is for thick, curly hair. I have thin, wavy hair.

Ingredients
This has more shea butter than coconut oil. It also has neem oil. It has algae which can act as a protein for some people. So if you're protein sensitive, this might not work for you

This issue I have with the label is the mystery behind the essential oil blend. I really wish companies would get in the habit of listing exactly which essential oils, absolutes, oleoresins, or extracts they used. People have allergies or don't like certain scents. I know that scent is proprietary, however, they really need to think of people's needs.

Smell and Texture
This doesn't have a strong scent at all.

This would be perfect for hair that can handle thicker products. I can use it, but I'm still trying to figure out if it works for my hair since it is thick and it does have coconut oil in it. I've found that by adding it right after I get out of the shower it can work ok. I always put some on my hands and then add water to it, emulsify it in my palms and then rake it through my hair. However, if I try to use it to SOTC (scrunch out the crunch), it just weighs my hair down so much. It has been working ok in lower dew points. I'm not so sure it would work well in summer though.

Size, Price, and Packaging
I'm very glad I got the smaller 8 oz. It was priced pretty fairly. It's in a bottle with a press-top.

Would I Get This Again?
Maybe. I'm really not sure. It is heavy for my hair and can easily weigh it down if I'm not careful.  I'm on the fence about how Shea Moisture claims that no ingredients have changed. Perhaps the ingredients are the same but the sources are different. I'm not sure. I know that many people love this product from the rave reviews I've heard. If you're interested, you can buy it here or from Naturally Curly.
