Appalachian Valley Natural Products Organic Clove Bud Essential Oil Review

I love cloves. Clove is not safe for kids though. I added it to my cart, deleted it, and then said oh well and added it back. I wanted to buy something for me and I knew that I could use it responsibly so that it wouldn't affect my kids. Cloves remind me of winter and homemade apple cider. I have whole cloves and ground cloves and even add a teeny tiny bit to hot chocolate.

Smell, Use, and Viscosity
This smells like fresh whole cloves to me but there's also a hint of chocolate, which is very odd. There's a crisp, sweetness about it that leads to a drier scent. I really like the scent of it and need to use it more when my kids are sleeping. In my opinion, it clears the air and reminds me of baking at home on a cold wintry day.

I do not like that they mention it can be used in the food flavor trade. I realise that there are professionally trained people who do take essential oils internally or tell people to do so, but they are highly trained and the products are regulated. I don't want people to get the idea that they can just use essential oils to flavor their food like they could with extracts like vanilla or almond. Extracts that are meant to be taken internally.

Clove is a hot oil that stimulates the senses and purifies the air. As a hot oil, it can be used in warming massages.  It can be used to stimulate your mind when you have emotional issues and aid with concentration.

I like how they mention not to use it undiluted. Too often there is unsafe information out there about essential oil usage. Be sure to talk to a certified clinical aromatherapist if you have any questions about usage.

This is a thin oil, however, one thing I've found about AVAT's orifice reducers is that they are smaller compared to the one that Edens Garden and Plant Therapy use. I often have to tap the bottom of the bottle in order to get drops out. If you create an account, you will have access to more sizes. All their milliliter sizes have orifice reducers; their ounces sizes do not. If you're going to buy the ounce bottles, you'll probably want to either use a pipette or decant into smaller bottles. I forgot I had one bottle that was an ounce size and ended up dumping a lot of spearmint into my diffuser. My entire house smelled like toothpaste for a week.

Size, Price, and Packaging
I got a 20ml bottle and it is very, very affordable. So much so, that had I not been recommended this company in Real Aromatherapy Reviews and More 2.0, I would have thought it was fake. They do have GCMS reports, but they are done in house. They also don't offer dates on distillation or GCMS testing, however, John the owner has been in business for a while and developed a good reputation. With that being said, there are some people who don't buy AVAT oils because of it. Some well-respected companies such as Original Swiss Aromatics, Apothecary's Garden, and Snow Lotus Aromatics don't even offer GCMS reports.

The packaging is standard. It comes with an orifice reducer or Euro dropper. The oil is thin, but the orifice is small, so you might have to tap the bottle or shake it a bit to get drops out.

One complaint I have about their packaging in general, is that they don't have a label on the top of the oil. This means that you either have to buy bottle cap stickers or make your own. I know it's a wholesale company so that might be why.  I personally make my own stickers. They don't look pretty, but they do the job.

Would I Get This Again?
Yes, I probably would. I like the company very much and I like the fact that this smells like fresh whole cloves is nice. It makes me think of relaxing and spending time together with family. You can buy it here.
