Appalachian Valley Natural Products Walnut Oil Review

Walnut oil can be used for your hair or your skin. My hair is about to the middle of my back. I have 2B, low-porosity, protein-sensitive hair. My hair is medium thickness and low density. I'm of European descent and I have dark virgin hair.

I was looking for a cheap filler oil. Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO) is cheap, but walnut oil is even cheaper and I'm all about affordable oils. I had been using coconut oil in my body butters, but I've found that I really didn't like it and was looking for a substitute

Ingredients
The oil I have it from the USA. Mine has a pretty strong scent to it, so it might be lightly refined or unrefined. They've changed their suppliers. Now they have 100% refined expressed walnut oil from Italy.

Stats about Walnut Oil
Coconut oil has a comedogenic rating of 1-2 out of 5, meaning that some people will break out, but most people will be ok. Some people believe that comedogenic ratings don't mean much at all: Colin's Beauty Pages and Babe + Beauty. It's got linoleic acid of 51%, linolenic acid of 10%, and oleic acid of 30%. It's good for people with acne since it can fight infections. It has a limited shelf life of 6 months to 1 year. I keep my oils in the fridge so that the temperature is constant and to make the shelf life last as long as possible. You can find more details below.

Smell and Texture
Since this is a refined oil it does not have much of a scent at all. It's a light yellow color. The oil itself is thin and yellow.

Size, Price, and Packaging
At a little less than $5 for 8oz, this is a very affordable carrier oil. AVAT's carrier oils come in squat frosted plastic bottles. I know some people prefer glass bottles and if that's the case, then you can decant into your own container. If you're buying in bulk and won't be using it all up that quickly, you should also decant it into smaller bottles since air can cause the oil to go bad faster. I keep this in my fridge and it stays in liquid form.

Would I Get This Again?
No, I wouldn't simply because it's refined and I'm trying to buy unrefined oils. I know everyone is different and some people actually prefer refined oils. If you'd like to try it, you can buy it here.
