Shea Moisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Weightless Hair Masque Review

My hair is about to the middle of my back. I have 2B, low-porosity, protein-sensitive hair. My hair is medium thickness and low density. I'm of European descent and I have dark virgin hair.

About Shea Moisture: On my page about Shea Moisture, you can read more about their company and read my product reviews. I have reviewed other companies and their products as well and you can find those on my complete list.

I got this for free! I got this for Christmas.

I really, really wanted to love Shea Moisture, but many of their products seemed too heavy for my hair. I got a few deep conditioners and I'm glad I tried this one. It's perfect for people with thinner hair or low density hair. I find that this works great in the summer months.

Ingredients
This has more coconut oil than shea butter. Shea butter can be a bit too heavy on my hair. It also has  a few other butters and oils, such as cocoa butter, mongosteen oil, avocado oil, and soybean oil.

This does have glycerin (a humectant), which can cause frizz during high and low dews, however, since I rinse it out, it's not as bad as products with glycerin that I leave in my hair. It does not have aloe in it, which is a film forming humectant.

In addition to the essential oil blend, it has a number of extracts, such as dragon fruit, guava (psidium guajava), apple, camu camu (myrciaria dubia), and grapefruit extract.

There are a couple issues that I have with the label. First, I really wish companies would get in the habit of listing exactly which essential oils, absolutes, oleoresins, or extracts they used. People have allergies or don't like certain scents. I know that scent is proprietary, however, they really need to think of people's needs. Second, they should use the common name for everything as well. Sometimes they have it in parenthesis and other times they don't. Sometimes they need to be more specific. For example, what grapefruit are they using? Is it white, red, or pink?

Smell and Texture
This doesn't have a strong scent at all. It smells a bit fruity and tropical.

It's pretty thin for a masque, but since they're marketing it as a coconut water weightless masque, I would not expect it to be thick. It could easily be put into a tube instead of the tub/jar that it comes in.

Size, Price, and Packaging
Mine is 12 oz and was priced pretty fairly. I use it during the warmer months.

It's not that thick so I wish they had stuck it in a different packaging and not the tub it comes in. I hate tubs and jars because they are open to light, air, and contamination. I think that more companies should think about different packaging for masques and deep conditioners.

Would I Get This Again?
Maybe. I don't like that there's not enough info about what exactly is in the essential oil blend. I'd also like to be able to find this packaging again, however, all I can find now is a tub. I'm on the fence about how Shea Moisture claims that no ingredients have changed. Perhaps the ingredients are the same but the sources are different. I'm not sure. If you're interested, you can buy it here or from Naturally Curly.
