Although my daughter had a favorite scent, I felt like I really didn't feel drawn to anything. We have a shampoo that's grapefruit scented and I absolutely love it. I've never really liked grapefruit. I know they're healthy and high in Vitamin C, but they seem so bitter and mouth-puckering to me. However, the shampoo really smelled amazing, so I decided to see if I liked the essential oil.

Unlike Edens Garden and Plant Therapy (Use this link to get $10 off), AVAT does not have a line for kids. Grapefruit is safe for kids.
AVAT has two of the three types of grapefruit: pink and white. The third, ruby red, is not available on their website. I have both the pink and white ones and love them both.
I do not like that they mention it can be used in the food flavor trade. I realise that there are professionally trained people who do take essential oils internally or tell people to do so, but they are highly trained and the products are regulated. I don't want people to get the idea that they can just use essential oils to flavor their food like they could with extracts like vanilla or almond. Extracts that are meant to be taken internally.
Grapefruit is known for being detoxifying and able to clear the air. It can help lift and lighten the mood during times of sadness, anxiety, migraines, and depression. Topically, it can help with acne and cellulitis.
This is a thin oil, however, one thing I've found about AVAT's orifice reducers is that they are smaller compared to the one that Edens Garden and Plant Therapy use. I often have to tap the bottom of the bottle in order to get drops out. If you create an account, you will have access to more sizes. All their milliliter sizes have orifice reducers; their ounces sizes do not. If you're going to buy the ounce bottles, you'll probably want to either use a pipette or decant into smaller bottles. I forgot I had one bottle that was an ounce size and ended up dumping a lot of spearmint into my diffuser. My entire house smelled like toothpaste for a week.
The packaging is standard. It comes with an orifice reducer or Euro dropper. The oil is thin, but the orifice is small, so you might have to tap the bottle or shake it a bit to get drops out.
One complaint I have about their packaging in general, is that they don't have a label on the top of the oil. This means that you either have to buy bottle cap stickers or make your own. I know it's a wholesale company so that might be why. I personally make my own stickers. They don't look pretty, but they do the job.
Make sure to follow proper dilution guidelines. Click on the button that says "download dilution chart". Do not use undiluted. Patch test before using. Check the max dilution on the label. If pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor's care, please contact your caregiver first. Do not use internally unless directed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician. Follow safe essential oil usage; not all people or pets should be exposed to essential oils. Grapefruit is phototoxic.

Smell, Use, and Viscosity
As far as grapefruit goes, ruby red is the sweetest and white is the sharpest. Pink falls directly in the middle. There is a sweet, bitter, tangy, crisp scent about it. It's zesty, mouth-puckering, and has a distinct dry down scent to it that they call pithy. In my opinion there is such a slight difference between the pink and the white. The pink smells fuller and stronger to me and the white is more subtle, crisper, and drier. I do not like that they mention it can be used in the food flavor trade. Size, Price, and Packaging
I got a 20ml bottle and it is very, very affordable. So much so, that had I not been recommended this company in Real Aromatherapy Reviews and More 2.0, I would have thought it was fake. They do have GCMS reports, but they are done in house. They also don't offer dates on distillation or GCMS testing, however, John the owner has been in business for a while and developed a good reputation. With that being said, there are some people who don't buy AVAT oils because of it. Some well-respected companies such as Original Swiss Aromatics, Apothecary's Garden, and Snow Lotus Aromatics don't even offer GCMS reports. The packaging is standard. It comes with an orifice reducer or Euro dropper. The oil is thin, but the orifice is small, so you might have to tap the bottle or shake it a bit to get drops out.

Would I Get This Again?
Yes, I probably would. Grapefruit has become my signature scent and I'm going to learn how to make some blends with it as well as roller bottles with carrier oils and perfumer's alcohol so that I can make natural perfume. It IS phototoxic, so that is a concern. Make sure to put in on places that won't see the light of day. You can buy it here.
Safety
The shelf life is about 1-2 years. I keep all my essential oils in the fridge to help extend their shelf-life. Make sure to follow proper dilution guidelines. If pregnant, nursing, or under a doctor's care, please contact your caregiver first. Do not use internally unless directed by a licensed aromatherapist or physician.
