Life-flo Pure Almond Oil Review

I wanted to try out some new carrier oils. Although I really wanted to try out the more expensive carrier oils, I decided to start with affordable ones and use them for either body butter before buying more expensive oils that I could use on my face. It's also supposed to be good for dry, acne prone skin and that's what I have. I figured I could try to use it for the oil cleaning method as well.

Years ago I used to have very long hair and I would oil the ends of my hair and give myself scalp massages with oil every day. About once a week I would do hot oil treatments. Since then, I've learned that oils don't work so well on my hair, however, I still use carrier oils in order to dilute essential oils, for the OTM, and to make my own body butter. Make sure to follow proper dilution guidelines for essential oils. Click on the button that says "download dilution chart".

This says pure almond oil and not sweet almond oil, but from what I can tell, they're the same thing. They shouldn't be confused with bitter almond oil, which is an essential oil.

Ingredients
This is 99.5% sweet almond oil and .05% vitamin E, which is an antioxidant to help preserve the freshness of the oil. This is cold-pressed and hexane free. Hexane is a petroleum derived liquid which is used in a solvent in glue for things such as shoes. That sounds bad, so I'm glad this oil is free from it. Below you can find the fatty acid composition of almond oil.

Stats about Almond Oil
Almond oil has a comedogenic rating of 2 out of 5, meaning that it should not clog pores. However, some people say it's not that reliable. The problem with comedogenic ratings and how comedogenic ratings really work. The shelf life of almond oil is 6 months to 1 year. I keep my oils in the fridge so that the temperature is constant and to make the shelf life towards the longer end of the spectrum (1 year), rather than the short (6 months).

Smell and Texture
Since this is cold-pressed, I thought it would have a more distinct smell and I was hoping it would smell like marzipan. It doesn't. It smells a bit nutty, but not much. I think it has a similar texture as olive oil.

Size, Price, and Packaging
I bought the 16oz version and I think it's decently priced. It comes in a clear plastic bottle. I prefer dark, glass bottles, but it seems like most average-priced non-exotic oils come like this.

Would I Get This Again?
Maybe. I didn't think it was anything special but I feel like it's more moisturizing than coconut oil, so I think it would make a good base to body butters.

Random Thoughts
Patch test before using.
