Ruby Stone Crystal Nail File Review

I remember having a pink nail file years ago when I was a kid. It didn't file my nails down that much and was much gentler than other files. One day it broke in half. I continued to use it and then eventually must have thrown it out. I don't remember where I got it from. Probably Sally's.

A few months ago, somehow I stumbled upon Venusian Glow's post about the Ruby Stone Crystal Nail File. She wrote her post back in 2010. I searched online for reviews and didn't find that much. I found some info that it was originally made by J-SEL LLC but their website doesn't work anymore. I liked how she said the file was gentle on her nails and didn't rip or tear them like a traditional file does. I remember how much I lied the file I had when I was younger, so decided to buy one and try it out.

I looked for reviews about this before I bought it and it seems like glass nail files, with ones being from the Czech Republic are more popular now. Tip: run reviews through FakeSpot and ReviewMeta since a lot of the ones from Amazon are fake.

This file is light pink and about 5 inches long. It's about the same thickness as an emory board. One end has a pink holder on it and the other is round. You can see from the picture above that there's a flat area to erase cuticles. There is no groove though, like there is with the Caren Original Ruby Stone Crystal Nail File (that ironically appears to be white).

With a traditional emory board, you are only supposed to file in one direction, not back and forth, to prevent your nails from tearing or splitting. With this nail file, you can file back and forth. This doesn't file your nails down as quickly either and I think it makes less of an annoying sound.

In addition to the crystal nail file, they have a file with a buffer, a mini set (with the crystal nail file, buffer, condition buffer, and smooth buffer) and a nail care system (with the crystal nail file, buffer, condition buffer, smooth buffer, and cuticle cream).

Size, Price, and Packaging
I just got the nail file. It came with a hard plastic case, which I will definitely use because I'd image that this would break if you dropped it. I know the one I had years ago broke.

It's more expensive than a regular emory board, however, the quality is better. Regular emory boards get dull and the file part can come off. In addition, you can't use the thin sides, whereas with this file you can use all sides (except where the holder is). You can compare the price with a single Czech glass nail file and a set of 3 Czech glass nail files.

Would I Get This Again?
I probably would get it again. I'd like to try the Caren Original Ruby Stone Crystal Nail File as well simply because it has a groove and that seems like a fun novelty to try out. I would get one for my daughter. Even though she's young, I want to get her quality gifts that she can use in the future.
