Edens Garden Fighting Five Synergy Blend Essential Oil Review

I was given this oil (along with a handful of other Edens Garden essential oils) by someone who was moving. I had smelled Thieves about five years ago. I met someone who had created her own roller ball and I feel in love with the scent. It's warm and crisp. It reminds me of a frosty winter morning.

You can buy it here. Like Plant Therapy (get $10 off), Edens Garden also has a kids line called, OK for Kids. This product is not part of this line.

Please be careful about using this if you are going to come into contact with children. Watch my YouTube video to find out how it affected my daughter. Error on the side of caution when using essential oils. Natural and pure does not mean the same as safe. Check out what Tisserand and Harris say about using eucalyptus by itself or in blends. Age is important when it comes to oils.

Smell, Use, and Viscosity
This blend is one of many Thieves blends. If you've never heard of the story behind this blend, you should definitely read it. It's pretty interesting. There are five ingredients to Thieves:  clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary. This version uses two different eucalypti oils, bringing the total number of ingredients to six.

There are different types of four out of the five ingredients: cinnamon, clove, eucalyptus, and rosemary essential oils. This particular blend uses the following: cinnamon leaf, clove bud, eucalyptus globulus, eucalyptus radiata, and Moroccan rosemary.

I've seen different recipes call for different things. If you're going to make your own, you can try and experiment and see what works for you. Mountain Rose Herbs has a recipe to try out. I'm not at the stage of trying to make my own master blends, so I'm glad I was given this.

  1. I like clove. It reminds me of the pomander oranges that some people still make around Christmas time. Like lemon, it's known for its cleaning properties. It can help boost your immune system as well.
  2. Lemon is my daughter's favorite scent. I also like it since I like most citrus. Lemon can help lift your mood and energize you. It's good for cleaning, improving your immune system, and clearing the air.
  3. There are three different types of cinnamon: leaf, bark, and cassia. This uses the leaf. Cinnamon leaf smells warm and inviting. It's known as a warming oil when used topically.
  4. Eucalyptus has over 700 different versions. Here are some that I've found: eucalyptus dives, eucalyptus globulus, eucalyptus polybractea, eucalyptus radiata, and eucalyptus smithii. There's also eucalyptus citriodora which is lemon eucualyptus. This blend uses eucalyptus globulus and eucalyptus radiata. Eucalyptus globulus is the most popular since it smells like a eucalyptus tree. The eucalyptus radiata is sweeter with a fruity, citrus scent. They're said to help with respiratory issues. They can also help muscle and joint pain and increase ciruculation and warmth. I really don't like eucalyptus. It reminds me of Vicks Vapor Rub and being sick.
  5. There are three versions of rosemary: rosmarinus officinalis L. camphoriferum (commonly known as Spanish rosemary), rosmarinus officinalis L.cineoliferum (commonly known as Moroccan rosemary), and rosmarinus officinalis L. verbenoniferum (commonly known as rosemary verbenone). This version uses Moroccan rosemary, which is supposed to help your respiratory system.
It's supposed to kill bacteria and germs as you can see by its history. It says it can defend your health and be used daily (thought I'd be worried about sensitization). They say you can add it to your routine to feel vibrant and strong. The name is a bit of a misnomer as Edens Garden has used two different eucalyptus essential oils, bringing the total ingredients to 6. However, since two of them are eucalypti, I think I'm splitting hairs.

It's a rather thin oil, so be careful not to use more than you want to.

Size, Price, and Packaging
I got a 10ml bottle and it is priced pretty fairly. Keep in mind that I got this for free from someone who is moving. The packaging is standard. It comes with an orifice reducer or Euro dropper. The oil is thin so it can come out quickly, but the orifice isn't too large that the oil just runs out. If you sign up on their website, you will automatically be enrolled in Aroma Notes, which is their loyalty program and can earn points towards future purchases.

One complaint I have about their packaging is that they don't have a label on the top of the oil. This means that you either have to buy their bottle cap stickers or make your own. They even say that it's frustrating to have to lift all the oils out and check the label on the side. I'm sorry, but I think this is slightly ridiculous. I know that $5 for stickers isn't that much, but if you only have a few oils it doesn't make sense, money-wise or material-wise. You'll just be throwing a lot of the stickers away, even though it's not that much, it's wasteful and think about how many other people do the same. I don't think it would cost them that much extra to stick a sticker on top. Plant Therapy's bottles all come with stickers and they have similar price points. I personally make my own stickers. They don't look pretty, but they do the job. Come on Edens Garden, help us out and just add a sticker on the top.

Would I Get This Again?
I would definitely buy this again. I love the smell of it, the history, and what it's used for. The only downside is that it's not safe for kids. Edens Garden does have a kids line called, OK for Kids, and their Germ Ease OK for Kids Synergy Blend and Healthy Hero OK for Kids Synergy Blend (they also have a roller ball version) would be two good choices. Edens Garden offers FREE shipping on all orders. Be sure to sign up on their site since they have a rewards program called Aroma Notes. You can buy it here.
