I used to buy stuff from From Nature With Love when I was in college. I was on the Long
Hair Lovers and the Long Hair Community boards and used some of their
products. FNWL was founded in 1997. While not all companies that are in
business for a long time are good, it helps to know that you are buying
from an established company. Make sure to sign up for their rewards program. Their mailing list will
notify you about their sales, sometimes they have up to 50% off.

I've found that in general, organic products tend to be less refined than non-organic ones. If you're looking for a short-cut to find unrefined products, check out their organic ones first. I really wish they would have some way to tell how each oil is extracted so you didn't have to click on each individual one. Some oils have information on the main page, but I wish they would add them to them all.
They have a lot of products to choose from: bases, butters, clays, CO2 extracts, color additives, Dead Sea ingredients, exfoliants, flavor oils, fragrance oils, grain ingredients, herbs, hydrosols, kits, melt and pour soap, milk powders, mineral makeup, preservatives, salts and sugars, samplers, carrier oils, waxes, and more. They also have sections for certified organic, natural pet care, and skin care from around the world (African, Indian, and Japanese). Those are just the ingredients. They also have sections for bath accessories, equipment, packaging, and books. It's a one-stop shop. I'd really like to learn more about herbs, but right now I'm going down the rabbit hole of essential oils.
The have a substantial amount of information about each product. They usually have a description, uses, properties, what it's suited for, recommended usage, basic info (origin, INCI, extraction method, shelf life, saponification value, SAP multiplier for NaOH and KOH), safety data sheet, and reviews. Now I don't even understand half of the basic info section, but like I said, it's geared towards people who make products and need to know about this stuff. I think it's great that they put it all there.

Customer Service
I have not contacted their customer service, but they claim to have outstanding customer service.
Prices You Can Afford
Their prices are pretty affordable. I think this may be partly due to the fact that they have such a large variety of products and probably buy in bulk. They often have sales. I've seen up to 50% off. Make sure to sign up for their newsletter or check their website often. They have sales and discount codes that you can find at the end of this post.
Quality Products
I feel like their products
are geared more towards people who make soap or body products and
because of that, they have a lot of refined oils and butters that may be
refined, bleached, deodorized and/or winterized. I personally prefer
cold-pressed, unrefined products (filtered is ok) due to their
composition, however, they can be fickle to work with, often have a
shorter shelf life, and have a scent. I have bought Monoi de
Tahiti even though it's refined, because it smells amazing. I've found that in general, organic products tend to be less refined than non-organic ones. Ethical Company
The have a few different ethical considerations on their website, such as sustainability, certified organic, and even kosher (only 2 products as of this post). image source |
